Lessons in Humility in 2017

Today I asked my parents why they never hung up their Harvard diplomas until after they retired. My dad’s response: “I don’t know.” My mom’s response: “I always thought if you have to tell people you’re smart then you’re not.” In 2017, I am trying to balance the lessons they taught me in humility with the need to market myself in search of meaningful work. How do you think we can stay humble and still promote ourselves? Is it possible to do both?

My parents’ diplomas, which they hung up after they retired.
